Three important laminate flooring installation facts

Three important laminate flooring installation facts

Look no further than laminate wood flooring if you're looking for an affordable, attractive alternative to hardwood. It's versatile, durable, and great for any room, especially with the new waterproof version.

You may be overwhelmed by the large selection of laminate flooring products. We'll highlight the three most important things to consider for this installation.

Consider thickness

While there's a range of thicknesses, yours should be at least 8 mm or more. Thicker surfaces last longer and are easier to carve on. The latter translates to more design options.

Underlayments may or may not be recommended. Don't skimp or take shortcuts. The best laminate flooring will last 25 years or more.

Consider the AC Rating

You want to be sure you use the right product for your installation. AC (Abrasion Criteria) is a one to five/six rating system determining dent resistance.

The most common for residential use is AC-3 and AC-4. However, it's also used for heavily trafficked residential floors such as the kitchen.

Anything below AC-3 is meant for walls or low-traffic spaces; anything above can be installed in light or heavy commercial areas.

Look at the design

Visuals should be clear, vibrant, and accurate with knots, grains, swirls, etc. Laminate flooring should also come with textured looks. Anything else is considered sub-par.

You'll be amazed when you come in to explore our inventory! You'll see designs like Restoration-Black Forest Oak by Mannington, Carrollton by Mohawk, or Pier Park by Shaw Industries.
